Guess who came to visit?

Yesterday afternoon, we had a very BRIGHT and LOUD unexpected guest.

Before the whole troop arrived, we went out to get mandarins, pineapples, pomelo and lettuces for the lion to feed on. It took them a good 5-10 minutes to slice the pineapples and pomelo under the lion, even with the help of a knife.

Of course, we fed them some 'ang pow'. They had to work for it a little on their way out.

And I became very productive after they left - I actually finished ONE layout! It's a photo of Isabelle and Melissa which I've been wanting to scrap for a long time.

Ta-daaaa!!!!!! Had the chance to use chipboards and paints - even the Specialty Glaze - Clear Gloss from Making Memories. I glazed the chipboards (and even the buttons!). The glaze does brighten up the colour on the chipboard. The random flower foam-stamp prints were outlined with a black 0.3 ZIG pen to make them stand out more.

Materials: Textured Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Chipboards: Fancy Pants; Paper Flowers: American Crafts; Brads: Queen & Company; Paints: Making Memories; Buttons: SEI; Pop-up Glue: Glue Dots.

Back to work

Hey all. I hope you've recovered from the CNY celebrations. We just about survived so it's back to scrapping! Someone commented that Shabby hasn't had a new post since (and it was from a guy!) but hey, we have been busy with CNY (!!!).

So I just thought I'd touch a little bit more on scrapping on this post. I know our frequent readers here know what it's all about but we also know scrapping is still a bit 'foreign' to Bruneians. They've ooh-ed and aah-ed about what you can actually create from the items at the store (but sadly, many would prefer to ooh and aah from a safe distance).

Let's say it together - Scrapping is FUN!!!!

What it really is is so simple. Most of us (dare I say all of us) I'm sure have heaps and heaps of photos stacked away somewhere and we dig and search for that special photo. And this is where you start - organise your photos. You could organise them in chronological order or by themes such as weddings, birthdays, etc. then store them in a dark, cool place (our humid climate is not very friendly at most times).

Now you can begin scrapping! Of course, you'll need the essentials such as scissors, double-sided tape, album and paper. In the world of scrapbooking, we live by the rule where we try our best to ensure everything we use is archival-safe. So in order to prolong the lifespan of our scrapbook, we use acid- and lignin-free materials. Once you've got the essentials, this is where the fun begins! You can start decorating your layouts (a layout would ordinarily mean a 12"x12" scrap page) with embellishments such as flowers, buttons, stickers, rub-ons, ribbons, chipboards and the list goes on AND on.

We are still conducting 'Scrapbooking for Beginners' course at Shabby for B$35 per person. During this 3-hour session, you will learn - how to create a 12"x12" layout of your own, how to use the basic tools and embellishments and how to choose colours that will compliment your pictures. All you are required to bring are 5-7 photos to choose from for your layout and we'll provide the rest. You'll learn the important techniques and soon you'll surprise yourself with the creativity you never knew you had!

On my next post, I'll share with you new sites I've discovered with new layout styles (they are sooooooooo lurvely!!) which I'm itching to try out. By the way, would you scrappers be interested in showing your stuff on a gallery on this blogspot? Just an idea. Pictures can really inspire :)

Year of the *oink*

Ok, I lied. I don't have any pictures in this post. *hehe*

So, "Management" has decided to close our doors for the first few days of Chinese New Year. We'll be closed from Saturday the 17th of February til Tuesday the 20th of February. We'll be well-rested by then (hopefully!) and back into action on Wednesday, 21st February.

To all you scrappers out there - a happy and prosperous new year! Hope you make the most of the long weekend :)

Laters!

Hello, Scrappers!

Hi again!

So glad we're getting such good feedback about this blogspot. Thank you!!

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's. Our wishlist wasn't as popular as we thought it would be but nonetheless, a few men came round to get some wishlist items for their ladies. One very lucky (and happy, by now!) scrapper's hubby came and bought everything we've been setting aside for her in a BIG box ;)

As some of you may have heard, we had a few boxes that were missent to Africa. One of the boxes had all our Valentine's items in them and only arrived two days ago. *tut tut*. They'll all eventually end up at the store but it's a question of "when?". Never fear as I hear they'll be more Fancy Pants chipboards and American Kraft patterned paper coming soon!!!

And to get you all riled up (hehehe), we'll be having our very first CROP NIGHT next month. Yep, yep. And special discounts will be on offer on CROP NIGHT itself. More on that closer to that. I've got more exciting news but one at a time ;)

Will post pictures too in the next entry. Promise.

p.s. : you can email us at shabbychicbrunei@gmail.com

Oh, Scrap!!!!

Hello everyone!

Due to some minor blunders, we've finally set up our own blogspot (again!). We've been meaning to create a blogspot earlier for many reasons; mainly to stay in touch with our scrappers - both new and experienced. So feel free to drop us a comment at any time :)

Thanks for your support (you know who you are!) without which we wouldn't be able to make it this far. Here you'll be able to stay up-to-date with what's new at Shabby Chic, our latest offers and perhaps share ideas, tips and tricks with other fellow scrappers.

March will see a few exciting events happening at the store. We'll keep you posted!

Til then, happy scrapping!
